Driving at Night? Take Extra Precautions!

No matter what season, drivers need to take extra precautions when driving in the dark to ensure safety. Not only is it more difficult to see your surroundings, there is a higher chance that deer, raccoons, and other critters will be making their way across the roads!

Using your high beams when you’re in low-traffic areas; be sure to turn them off if you’re approaching another car

Turning your lights on at dusk

Not looking directly into oncoming traffic’s headlights

Keeping at least a two-car’s distance away from traffic in front of you

Going for regular eye check-ups to ensure your nighttime vision is in good condition (between two and three years)

Putting your hazard lights on if you need to pull over; pull over entirely off the road if possible
