shutterstock_173885453There’s nothing worse than being unprepared for an emergency! We often don’t think about the little things that would make a big difference should we get caught in the cold. With the predictions of a strong Canadian winter this year, make sure you have an emergency kit to get you through any rough winter situation you may experience on the roads!

Wondering exactly what to put in it? From things too keep you warm, such as hats, blankets, scarves, and candles, to flashlights, windshield scrapers, booster cables, and cell phone adapter – here are some items to keep in your car’s emergency kit or stored in your trunk.

  • Blanket
  • Windshield Scraper
  • Flashlight (include extra batteries)
  • Whistle
  • Packaged Snack Foods (that will keep for a few months)
  • Booster Cables
  • Extra Hats, Gloves, Scarves (enough for you and a few passengers)
  • Cell Phone Adapter
  • Matches and Candles
  • Water bottles
  • Extra boots, coat, snow pants
  • First Aid Kit
  • Map
  • Shovel
  • Sand or Salt (for traction)
  • Extra bottle of wiper fluid and antifreeze

These are some items to get you started! Remember: it’s always best to be over prepared than underprepared.

Happy Driving!
